Excellencies, Distinguished Delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is indeed a great honor and pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to address and be part of this year’s 7th International Forum on Clean Energy On behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, first and foremost, I would like to Express our sincere thanks to the government of China, especially the Secretariat of International Forum for Clean Energy (MACAO) and Secretariat of ASEAN-China centre. which has organized this forum and all those who have worked hard to prepare this event; the speakers and all the participants for setting aside time for this significant occasion despite your busy schedules.
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen
As you well known the energy is essential for maintaining the economic growth and social development of all countries in the world. The reliability, security, affordability, and adequacy of energy supply is important for economic improvement. Today, Energy demand is expected to increase in parallel with economic expansion of the countries. While the energy resources in the region are fast depleting, the countries are seeking alternative solutions, which include, among others, measures to diversify sources of energy in order to ascertain security of energy supply and Increase energy service with sustainable and affordable manners and trade opportunity to promote the global low carbon technology on solar, wind and other sustainable development technology to address climate change and achieve emission reductions.
The Lao PDR is high potential resources of the power development and Laos can be hub for Electric Power Trading among Greater Mekong Member Countries to meet national and regional power supply and demand. The Government of Lao PDR has adapted National Power Development Policy, strategy 2025 and planed 2020 as followings:
1.Develop the Power generation resources to maximize benefit for country and promotion of the alternative source of energy for generation mixed and energy export trading to bilateral agreements with GMS countries
2.Develop the National Grid and grid integration with GMS member countries and ASEAN to facilitate power trade
3.To optimize the appropriate energy tariff for customer and promotion private sector participation for generation project for more competitiveness.
4.Secure the clean energy to supply for transportation sector
5.Promote the Energy efficiency and conservation
to fulfill above captioned strategies and development direction, the Government of Lao PDR please welcome public cooperation and private participation and investment.
